It all started out innocently enough. It was Linda Guerra's birthday and her kids were throwing her a surpise party. The plan was to have a fun card and to use a photo from a few years ago.
When her daughter saw the proposed design, she knew she wanted more for her mom. Sonya contacted Baseline Creative, Inc. for a transformation / design makeover.
The pros at Baseline Creative, Inc. discussed various options/themes for the invitation before settling on the theme "LIFE." The inspiration for the card was simple; classic single-image cover and the theme "LIFE" just sort of jumped out as being an appropriate concept for the birthday bash.
Work included reimaging the arms, extending a complicated lace pattern and colorizing the sepia-toned photo. The goal was to attain a lithographic effect, similar to how LIFE magazine was printed for decades, and why so many advertisements from this periodical have stood the test of time and become collectible.
